Peniel Day Foundation's Visit to the Senior Boys'Correctional Centre Isheri - 30/12/2022

July 13th, 2025

In a bid to fight for gender equality, we inspire and empower girls. This is by all means a great which is a great thing, a passion Faith Hinmikaiye says she won't stop declaring. But we sometimes forget to pay attention to the boys. We commonly attribute the things they do to boys being boys and let them go loose without correction and proper training.

Many have been led astray by peer pressure and the lack of a father figure in most homes has deeply affected the role of discipline in training a boy.Boys need to be inspired, encouraged, disciplined and mentored through life decisions and we all have a role to play in that regard.

Shining the light of Jesus Christ, Peniel DAY Foundation visited the Lagos State Correctional Facility for senior boys on the 30th of December 2022. Most of the younger boys are picked up from the street, under the bridge or brought in by loved ones who couldn't control them. The older men are brought in for crimes they may have committed and some others are addicted to drugs and substances.

The facility also serves as a rehabilitation center for addicts and we must commend the leadership strategy and training the men in charge take out on the boys. It was a delight to see the impact the facility had in their lives and all we did was play a little part in the great work done.

The activities of Peniel Day Foundation included the following:

  • The viewing and projection of a faith based  movie for titled legion. This movie production is from the stables of the reclaimed Mount Zion Ministries.
  • Right after, we asked the boys and men to share their opinions and lessons they learned from the movie viewing.
  • We also played cognitive-inspired games to stimulate their desire to read and study.
  • Faith Hinmikaiye spoke to the boys about making lives’ choices. It was a powerful, inspirational and motivational moment for the boys. She shared with the boys the power they have to make choices while also sharing the repercussions of their choices. She also encouraged them not to let hope die. In Faith’s words, “as long as there is life, there is hope to dream and achieve big things” She finally encouraged them to put to use the gifts and talents  God has naturally deposited on the inside of them and prayed with them.
  • We also gave them some Jollof rice, chicken and drinks to celebrate the end of the year 2022.
