In a bid to fight for gender equality, we inspire and empower girls. This is by all means a great which is a great thing, a passion Faith Hinmikaiye says she won't stop declaring. But we sometimes forget to pay attention to the boys. We commonly attribute the things they do to boys being boys and let them go loose without correction and proper training.
Many have been led astray by peer pressure and the lack of a father figure in most homes has deeply affected the role of discipline in training a boy.Boys need to be inspired, encouraged, disciplined and mentored through life decisions and we all have a role to play in that regard.
Shining the light of Jesus Christ, Peniel DAY Foundation visited the Lagos State Correctional Facility for senior boys on the 30th of December 2022. Most of the younger boys are picked up from the street, under the bridge or brought in by loved ones who couldn't control them. The older men are brought in for crimes they may have committed and some others are addicted to drugs and substances.
The facility also serves as a rehabilitation center for addicts and we must commend the leadership strategy and training the men in charge take out on the boys. It was a delight to see the impact the facility had in their lives and all we did was play a little part in the great work done.
